Camino Blog – Day 15

Burgos to Hornillos

Welcome to this Camino Blog. If you are new it might be best to start with the introduction. Otherwise, carry on.

Location: Hornillos – Population 10

Distance: 21km – 306.8km total.

Weather: Not great weather today. Threatened rain all day and obliged around 11. Quite cold as well. Glad for the gloves that accidentally made it.

Terrain: Uninspiring walk out of Burgos but  ended up walking through farm area over a long hill and into Hornillos.

Physical condition: I am okay, feet so so. Deb’s gave us a scare yesterday after eating something (probably Tuna) that didn’t go well. Had some sort of allergic reaction that eventually settled down in the evening.

Other: Last year I started reframing stressful situations as “at least it’s not boring”. Well it’s not boring having someone have an allergic reaction in a country where you don’t know how they health system works and when Google translate has not proved that reliable to date. Disturbing flashbacks to the previous time we were in Spain which was not pleasant. However, seems things are okay now.

News from the track: Passed a woman that we have met previously sporting a plaster on her face. Turned out she had a fall and ended up being taken by ambulance to get stitches. She was worried about the cost but was informed that there is no charge for pellegrino’s (pilgrims). Nice to know, and must keep pilgrim passport handy in such cases, but perhaps not to be relied on. Apparently, another person we met (sorry, keep forgetting names) has had a gall stone removed. Guess that wouldn’t be free.

Wonder if Eddy still loves Vanessa?

The yellow arrow marks the Camino way. The addition makes philosophically interesting.

Threatening weather.
